As a response to the growing secularism and nationalism of the people, Pope Pius XI instituted this feast
in 1925 and was set on the last Sunday of October. In 1969 Pope Paul VI raised this feast to a solemnity
with the given title “Domine Nostri Iesu Christi Universorum Regis” – Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the
Universe – to be celebrated on last Sunday of the Liturgical calendar to symbolize Christ as the Alpha
(Beginning) and the Omega (End).

It is the vision of the Vicariate of San Pedro Bautista to “Gather all of its Parishes unto the feet of Our
King, to Adore and Worship him as our Lord and Saviour.”

On Sunday, November 24, the Solemnity of Christ the King, the Holy Mass will be concelebrated with the parish priests of thevicariate at the Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Masambong at 4 pm. The Solemnity
will cap off with the Eucharistic Procession that will end at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes,
the highest honor of adoration for Our Lord, by bringing Him to the streets for His people to adore.

As we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King, may we ask our Lord to enable us to understand his
everlasting presence in the Eucharist, and how his Body and Blood transforms us from a servant to a
disciple. Let us also include in our prayers the people who continue to commit atrocities against the Holy
Eucharist, that Our Lord may enlighten them and give them a heart that can receive his suffering Heart.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, Our King, May you ever be worshipped and adored in all the Tabernacles in all
over the world. Amen.
