“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” John13:34

On this third journey, the meeting place to hand over the relief packs was set in the foothills of the beautiful Sierra Madre mountains, at Infanta, Quezon.

The brothers from the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin headed by the Capuchin JPIC Chairman, Rev. Fr. Alberto Poblete, OFMCap. met the indigenous tribal people who were devastated by torrential rains in the wake of typhoon Ulysses.

Here is a video peek of their distribution relief efforts for the Dumagat communities.

More visits are scheduled:

Cayabu – 150 families; Brangay Lomutan – 400 families. These efforts will be in partnership with the Franciscan Solidarity Movement for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC).

Plans include Baybay, General Nakar with 9 communities; Barangay San Rafael in Montalban with 300 families. Final dates to be advised.

The brothers tirelessly continue to distribute relief goods with the help and support that they receive. The most requested items include materials to repair and reconstruct their homes, solar panels for lighting, blankets, mosquito nets, pillows, clothes for children, underwear for adults and children.

Financial donations are welcome. Details in below poster:

Note: The CAPU CHIRON mentioned in the video is short for Capuchin chicaron. It is tasty crispy tarukong – sea leech – from Eastern Samar. Zero cholesterol. Proceeds from the sale of the best chicharon in town will benefit the fishermen of Eastern Samar and the scholars of Lourdes. Capu Chiron outlets are at Lourdes Church on Kanlaon Street, Santa Teresita Parish and Lipa.

Thank you and more power to the brothers from the Order or Friars Minor Capuchin (OFMcap): Br. Jose Raul Rico, Br. Mario Mortalla, Br. Dennis Jose, Br. Dennis Jose, Br. Joenifer Ygonia and Br. Michael Flores and Rev. Fr. Alberto Poblete, as well as Kuya Rene Indiongco.

“Whoever cares for the poor lends to the Lord, who will pay back the sum in full.” Proverbs 19:17

Peace and all good.
