On its fourth day of operations, the NSOLL Community Pantry on Kanlaon Street was bustling with activity.
Volunteers were busy repacking donations into packages for those waiting in line. Spearheaded by Ms. Maria Donita Roxas and companions, the community pantry was stocked with perishables: rice, broccoli, kangkong, Chinese pechay, sayote, carrots, squash, tomatoes, eggs, loaves of bread, packets of biscuits and non-perishables including clothes. Sis. Shella Guillermo of the Legion of Mary was also helping out.
While waiting, the recipients sat on the shady part of Kanlaon street, while their slippers were across the street on properly placed social distancing circles on the NSOLL sidewalk under the scorching 3 o’clock sun.
Barangay Maharlika officials helped in keeping the lines in order.
Everyone left with a package to bring home.
For those interested to give, the NSOLL Community Pantry is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 3 – 5 PM.
