“All things are possible for God.” Today’s Gospel resonated in the Shrine as members of the Parish Pastoral Council were commissioned.

With this, the Parish Pastoral Council of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes embarked on its journey in service and spirituality, guided by the following mantra of leadership:

7 lessons of leadership from Pope Francis:

Be humble.

Always allot time for prayer.

Show concern, love, and care for the poor.

Do not be afraid to take a risk.

Have a sense of humor.

Give space for flexibility when you serve.

Always trust God that He makes all things possible.

Being ardent devotees of Mama Mary, October 10 was an auspicious date to hold the commissioning as it coincides with the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary.

Led by Shrine Rector and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jefferson Agustin, OFMCap., each one pledged to a servant leadership steep in integrity, respect and love.

Citing a popular inspirational song, Fr. Jeff urged the leadership council to give something more, beyond what the eyes can see, everything that is in store, and go the extra mile. In closing, he quoted: “At the end of the day, the position is just a position, a title is just a title, and those things come and go. It’s really your essence and your values that are important.”
