“This is an opportune time to move to the frontlines within an era in dire need and athirst for the Word of God so make your presence felt especially in the global computer network.”
These are the challenging words of Rev Fr. Jeff Agustin, OFM Capuchin, Parish Priest, to members of the Social Communications (SocCom) Ministry during the blessing of its new office on November 4, 2021 (Thursday) right after the 6PM Mass.
Recognizing the vital role that social media now plays in the work of evangelization during this pandemic, Fr Jeff has gifted the Ministry with the tools necessary to properly carry out its mission- starting with the transfer from a cramped Media Room to a much bigger and conducive space.
With all the noise that the new technology brings with it in this present generation, Fr Jeff admonishes,” When you step into this room and start clicking away on the computer keyboards, you always have to remind yourself “I am a Christian. I am a missionary. I am an evangelizer.”
This mantra-of-sorts likewise echoes the Ministry’s chosen slogan: Suaviter in Modo Fortiter in Re (Latin); Gentle in Manner; Resolute in Action (English).
Attending this momentous occasion were members as well as benefactors in the Parish Pastoral Council led by Bro Chichos Luciano, Sis Ruby Macario, SocCom Coordinator Sis Tess Arvisu, Bro Jing & Sis Suzette Custodio, Bro Alexii Alipio and Sis Chloe Borja of the Lectors-Commentators Ministry.
Representatives of the different units comprising the Ministry: Graphics, Social Media, Writers, Photographers, LIVE- were also present: Sis Tess Lim, Sis Bea Jimeno, Bro Jorge Pineda III, Bro Enzo Morelos, Jr., Sis Gina de Guzman, Bro Rufino Palic, Jr, Bro Eldrick Nolasco and Sis Au de los Reyes. Bro Tristan Ventura assisted in the blessing rites.
With a long-range comprehensive program intended to upgrade manpower skills & facilities in the Ministry together with the inspiration and blessings of its shepherd Fr. Jeff, these so-called NSOLL’s “Evangelizers of the Digital Age” are ready to go to the fore.
